The SA Aperta qualifies as the most powerful and fastest open Ferrari V12 ever offered. Ferrari decided to build 80 SA Apertas in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary, the company that has produced some of the world's most exclusive and memorable road-going Ferraris since the 1950s. The car's nomenclature, "SA" pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, whereas "Aperta" means "open" in Italian.
The SA Aperta is designed as a true roadster and it is not engineered with a full convertible roof in order to preserve its pure roadster outline. Its chassis and powertrain have been planned to achieve the performance expected from such an elite automobile. A chassis structure specially designed for the SA Aperta donates it with stiffness comparable to that of a closed coupe. Ferrari's expertise in transferring racing technology to road cars has headed to in minimal weight addition for the SA Aperta compared to the 599 GTB Fiorano.
